CONCEPT CLASS: BULERIAS & TANGOS

Service Description

This 2 hour class breaks apart the mystery and complexity of both “Bulerias” & "Tangos (a traditional and often improvised type of flamenco song). Students will learn how to improvise in relation to the singing through an exploration of the “Cante” and rhythm structure. The class features live singing and guitar. Mixed Level, previous Flamenco experience/training recommended. Classes are IN PERSON at Flamenco Vivo Studios in NYC. Drop-in ok! For more information, please contact us at workshops@sonia-ismael.com. Free-form in style, this class will not feature specific choreography or steps. Rather, bring the steps you have, the patas and the palos and Sonia will guide you through transitions, Ismael will help resolve issues and the both teachers will help dancers find confidence to dance, perform and improvise! This first hour will be devoted to palos and material on the Intermediate Advanced Level. If you have specific questions or problems (e.g., how to transition to your subida, which llamada do you use in which lyric), present them to Sonia before class. This is a new class, and Sonia & Ismael will collaborate with the students to create the structure of this class!
